Understanding dock depth

Knowing the tide
isn’t knowing your depth.

A tide station reports water level at its location. TideRely measures actual water depth at your dock—and helps you understand what that depth means for your boat.

Tide height vs. water depth

Two related numbers.
Two different meanings.

Tide height is the water level relative to a reference datum at a station. Water depth is the amount of water above the bottom at a particular location. Your dock’s bottom depth and tidal behavior determine how a station’s reading translates to usable depth.

Why a few inches matter.

At a shallow-water dock, small changes can affect when you can lower your boat or drives, leave, or return. A station may be miles away, with different currents, shoreline geometry, and local water behavior.

TideRely gives you a measured dock depth rather than asking you to infer it from that remote tide height.

Your dock’s measurements. Your personalized forecasts.

The sensor-to-seabed measurement entered during setup establishes the reference for dock depth. TideRely continuously measures the water surface, stores dock readings, and analyzes how depth at your dock relates to nearby NOAA tide information.

The calibration work happens automatically.

As the dock history grows, TideRely refines your dock’s calibration in the background. You don’t need to keep entering water-depth readings or manually adjusting the calibration.

Plan for your boat, not just the tide.

Your boat’s draft and clearance requirements turn depth into GOOD TO GO / TOO LOW guidance. The 14-day forecast shows estimated depth ranges and upcoming boating windows so you can plan departure and return together.

Live measurements describe current conditions at the sensor. Forecasts estimate future depth. Always assess the rest of your route separately.
